Benevolence (Ongoing)
Helping families and individuals with monetary assistance.

Bible Adventures (September — June)
3 years old through 5th grade (by 9/01/07)
8:30-9:35 a.m. & 11:10-12:15 a.m. Services
Children will explore and discover the incredible stories, truths and treasures of the Bible. They will have the opportunity to memorize and apply Bible verses (MVP program). Older classes also use small groups as a way to connect with their leaders and church friends.

BreakOut Kids Small Groups (Weekly, September-November & January-March)
4th and 5th grade
BreakOut Kids Small Groups are an awesome opportunity for kids to get to know other kids in a small group setting and challenge one another to go deeper in following Jesus. Groups meet weekly to hang out, discuss and have fun!

Bright Beginnings (Ongoing)
Infant through 2 years old (by 9/01/07)

We have four age-appropriate nurseries. Bright Beginnings provides a safe and healthy environment where young children can experience God's love for them. The 8:30 and 9:50 a.m. services include a structured Bible lesson in Nursery 4 (2 year olds).

Bridge Communities (Ongoing)
GEBC is partnering with Bridge Communities to provide housing for families in need. Additionally, there is a team from the church that mentors these families in budgeting, parenting and life issues.

Camp Discover (June 16-20, 2008)
This week-long summer activity camp is jam packed with fun opportunities to learn and explore! Kids travel through different activity stations each day to discover their talents and special interests. We explore how our talents can be used by God to honor him and impact the world.

Child Baptism Class (Fall, Winter & Spring)
This four-week class is for children who are personally interested in being baptized and would like to study more about what it means.

Child Dedication Class (November and April)
Child Dedication is for parents who are involved at GEBC and want to publicly acknowledge God’s ownership of their child and their intention to be held accountable to raise them in the church community. The process for parents includes regular Sunday attendance, participation in one child dedication class, completed application, staff interview and presentation before the congregation.

Choir / Vocal Teams (Ongoing)
We lead the congregation in passionate and authentic worship of Jesus. Our vocal teams lead corporate worship most Sundays, and the worship choir normally leads once a month.

Christmas Luncheon (December 1, 2007)
This special event for women and girls celebrates the true meaning of Christmas and helps set the tone for a truly meaningful Christmas season.

Christmas Walk (November)
The Glen Ellyn Christmas Walk takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving and helps to kick off the Advent season. Small gifts and invitations to the GEBC Christmas services are handed out to the community during the Christmas Walk.
College Ministry (September — May)
We are kicking off a new ministry to connect college students at GEBC. Watch the bulletin, e-newsletter and On Target publications for more details.

Communion Serving / Preparation (Ongoing)
Communion servers minister to the Body as they distribute the elements during this sacrament. Communion preparers help behind the scenes as they prepare and clean-up the elements. This is a monthly commitment.

Compassion Contributions (Ongoing)
This is a team of GEBCers who collects furniture and household items to distribute to our compassion ministries.

Contribution Counters (Ongoing)
Count, balance and prepare reports and bank deposits for all contributions received. This ministry team serves weekly on a rotating basis.

Crossroads - Junior High Ministry, Grades 6 - 8 (September - June)
Sundays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Every Sunday, all middle school students meet at the church for fun and teaching. Each Sunday night at Crossroads we spend time playing games, building relationships, learning from God's Word and exploring the lesson further in small groups. Adult volunteers lead our small groups so students can connect with other Christ-followers who care about their growth in the Lord. Visitors are always welcome!

Discuss and Discover Bible Study (September — May)
Tuesday mornings, 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
Tuesday evenings, 7:00-8:45 p.m.
An in-depth Bible study focusing on applying God’s Word to the lives of women. The gathering includes fellowship, in-depth Bible study, prayer and worship, large and small group interaction, periodic outreach/service projects, with nursery and preschool childcare provided in the morning study only.

Easter (March/April)
Easter gift baskets are created as invitations to be given to friends, family and neighbors to join us for our Good Friday activities and Easter services.
Entrusted with a Child's Heart (September to May)
1st & 3rd Friday of the month.
This is an opportunity for moms with young children to come together for community and a study on the high responsibility and privilege we have in raising our children. Chilcare is provided.

We offer activities for families throughout the year, including a Fall Family Fun Night, Family Fun Cookie Craze and a Fun Fair!

F.A.S.T. - Families Actively Serving Together (October — May)
Families are encouraged to represent Christ by serving in the community together. Participating in F.A.S.T. is a great way to get started. F.A.S.T. offers monthly opportunities for families to provide practical help to the local community.

A series of fun, theme-oriented evenings out with the girls. Perfect for inviting friends to their first GEBC event. Past topics have included elegant entertaining, book discussion, women's health and salsa dancing.

The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is another partner with GEBC meeting the ongoing needs in our community. A team volunteers to work in food distribution and/or participates in several food drives thoughout the year.

Good Friday Morning - March 21, 2008
This special event on Good Friday morning gives families an opportunity to worship, fellowship and learn together about the message of Easter.

Helping Hands (Ongoing)
When the normal routine of life is interrupted or is simply too much to handle, Helping Hands provides a tangible expression of Christ's love to those in need, like providing hot meals.

Hockey (Winter)
Once or twice each winter, usually in February and March, the men of the church rent a local ice arena for some friendly hockey competition. All are welcome to skate, whether you are just beginning or are an expert.

Come join us Sunday mornings as we dive into God's Word and apply its truths to our lives. We meet upstairs in the Student Ministry room for Bible study, small group discussion and getting to know each other. Visitors are welcome any time!

These students learn leadership principles and are given the opportunity for real leadership experience. Students will be challenged as their leadership potential is stretched though leading in different areas of the Jr. High ministry.

Junior High Summer Retreat (Summer)
Our students escape the busy, suburban life and spend a week away from the distractions of the world to focus on God and His plan for their lives. These trips prove to be some of the greatest spiritual growth in students' lives.

Junior Power Hour (September — June)

Jr. Power Hour is a wonderful hour where our early childhood children travel to different stations with an adult leader. Stations include: Bible Lesson, Worship/Music, and Craft/Activity.

This ministry gives support and encouragement during the loss of a loved one, and offers organizational and practical assistance for funeral planning.

Memory Verse Program - MVP (Ongoing)
This incredible program challenges kids to memorize God's Word and apply it to their lives. MVP is offered during the Bible Adventures program (8:30 and 11:10 am services).

Men's Breakfasts (Quarterly)
We meet at GEBC and enjoy breakfast as we listen to others share with us about life and faith. This is a great opportunity to get to know the other men of GEBC as we connect in community.

Men's Fraternity (September — May)

An in-depth study of topics unique to men, Men's Fraternity provides an opportunity for men to develop strong relationships with one another while experiencing an encouraging and supportive environment of teaching, camaraderie and accountability.

Men's Prayer Meeting (Ongoing)
1st Wednesday of the month, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
The men of GEBC meet to pray for one another and for the issues of those in the church. Join us as we see God work powerfully among us.

Men's Retreats / Outings (October)
Every year, the men of the church gather together for a two-night weekend retreat. Retreats are a good balance of fellowship and study as the men get away from the pressures and demands of life and grow spiritually.

Groups of men meet in homes throughout the week for study, prayer and accountability. Groups are always open.

Men's Tuesday Night Basketball (Ongoing)
Tuesdays, 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Each Tuesday night throughout the year men gather in the gym for a friendly game of basketball. If you’re interested in playing, just show up.

Men's Work Day (October and May)
This bi-annual event takes place on a Saturday morning when men get together to support single moms, senior women and widows of the church. They provide labor and some supplies for “handy man” projects such as cleaning, raking leaves, minor building repairs, etc.

Men's Worship/Prayer Night (Quarterly)

Missions - Children's Ministry (Ongoing)
Each year the kids in Children’s Ministries adopt a missionary or missionary family. The kids learn about the country and the ministry that this missionary is a part of. Throughout the year they raise support money to send needed gifts to the missionary.

Moms First provides an opportunity for first time moms with young babies (under 1 year) to connect with other moms, learn the latest regarding baby and mom care, and get questions answered. This group is facilitated by Cindy Hendriksen, RN and Lactation Consultant.

Outings - Student Ministries (Monthly)
Each month, our group does fun activities to get to know one another better and introduce friends to the church. These activities include bowling, Great America and other fun nights.
Outreach Events (Ongoing)
Throughout the ministry year, various events are planned to provide opportunity to unite people to the GEBC fellowship. The purpose of the event appears to be social but its underlying purpose is to connect the disconnected. Sample events include bowling, dances, ball games, age-based picnics, etc. To make each event effective, a block of GEBC volunteers is needed.

Parents of teenagers gather together at a host home to discuss parenting issues, pray for each other and socialize. All are welcome.

This ministry connects folks with established evangelist organizations.

This ministry team serves weekly on a rotating basis to refill and stock pews with envelopes, pencils and informational inserts.

1st grade through 3rd grade
9:50 to 10:55 a.m.
Power Hour is an upbeat hour where the elementary kids travel to different stations with an adult leader. Stations include time for Bible Lesson, Worship/Music, and Activity/Life Application.

Repeat Boutique (Ongoing)
This team from GEBC volunteers to sort and distribute clothing, linens and household items to missionaries and those in need.

Route 45 Electives (September — June)
4th and 5th grade
9:50 to 10:55 a.m.
The 4th and 5th graders go in depth on topics that relate specifically to this unique time in their lives. This fall, we will study the Lord's Prayer. Rt. 45 will take December off to allow the kids to attend the worship service with their families. Then we will start a new topic in January. We'll end the year with the optional "Created by God" sex education class in April/May.

Route 45 Game Nite (September — April)
4th and 5th grade
This special game night once a month is for 4th and 5th graders only! Bring your friends for a night of games, activities and snacks. Route 45 also hosts a special winter weekend retreat in February.

Senior Adult Ministry - SAM (September — May)
2nd Saturday of the month
The Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) is a monthly social and service organization for all senior citizens of GEBC. Held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, we eat dinner together. You are encouraged to invite your friends for this time of fellowship.

Senior High Student Leadership Team (September - May)
1st Sunday of the month, 8:30 a.m.
This group of students help lead and direct the Senior High Ministry while growing their own leadership abilities.

Each month we have a fun activity intended to give students a chance to get to know one another better.

Senior High Retreats / Missions (January & Summer)
We take a weekend retreat in January and usually another one in the summer. Past summer retreats include a week in Arkansas on 15-person houseboats and backpacking in West Virginia. Each summer we also take a short-term mission trip. Past mission trips have gone to Louisiana, West Virginia, Chicago, New York City, Arizona, Mexico and Spain.

Senior High Service Projects (Monthly)
Throughout the year our students will have opportunities to serve through various service projects. In the past, we have made trips to local nursing homes and homeless missions. These trips are primarily carried out through small groups, as each group is responsible for 2 service projects a semester.

Senior High Small Groups (September - May)
Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Small Group is a place for students to go deeper. These same-sex groups meet on Sunday evenings throughout the school year. Each group meets off-site and consists of 6-8 students and 2 adult leaders.

Senior High Sunday Morning Discussion (September - May)
Sundays, 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
During the 11:10 a.m. service, we get together in the Student Ministry room for a time of discussion and creative teaching.

Senior High Worship Team (September - May)
Sundays, 12:30 p.m.
This group leads the high school worship for Wednesday night Summit meetings and special events.

Small Groups (Ongoing)
A great way for adults to get connected! These groups consist of 4 to 12 people and are a safe place to grow in faith. Small groups meet in members’ homes and are either led by leaders or by group members on a rotating basis. Each group chooses its own focus including marriage accountability, Bible study, book study, service, etc.
Softball (Summer)
During the summer GEBC fields a men's softball team that plays within the local church league. The team roster is put together in the spring.

Songwriters (Ongoing)
We are songwriters who gather to show our works in progress, receive critique, and inspire each other. We collaborate and pray with each other to further our songwriting abilities.

Sound Bites Hospitality (Ongoing)
We support the musicians, artists and technical crew of the worship ministry. Team members serve snacks and beverages for special and holiday services.

Special Needs for Children (Ongoing)
We are excited to offer a one-on-one aide on Sunday mornings for children with special needs so that they can participate and learn about Jesus. We have many wonderful volunteers with a heart for children with special needs.

We host two winter sports clinics at GEBC. We are also a church host for Glen Ellyn Victory Camps in the summer along with sponsoring a camp for kids at the Glen Ellyn Resource Center.

The women of the church come together for a wonderful weekend escape or just for a perfect Saturday to get away from the pressures and demands of everyday life and grow spiritually. It is an inspiring, fun and relaxing time and a great way to connect with other women.

Provides a tangible expression of Christ's love to those in need with lawn care, home repair, etc., when the normal routine of life is interrupted. Also assists the church building and grounds department with special projects and maintenance, such as repairs, painting, etc.

World Relief (Ongoing)
A team of volunteers from GEBC provides assistance in assimilating refugee families into our neighborhood. The team works under the direction of World Relief and in conjunction with other churches in our community.

Worship in the Park (June 8, 2008)
This annual event occurs every spring in lieu of our regular Sunday morning services. Great numbers of volunteers are needed to facilitate this outdoor worship celebration.
